Magpie players come to Guthrie Street

Students at Guthrie Street Primary School had a treat this morning when they received a visit from some AFL players from the Collingwood Football Club.

Senior Magpies Josh Thomas and Sam McLarty came to Shepparton to host a footy clinic for the kids. The athletes spoke about playing in the AFL and answered questions from the students. They also signed autographs and posed for photos with the kids.

There were many happy faces during recess when the players were on the oval displaying some of their kicking and handballing skills. The students were encouraged to participate and they did so with vigor. There was also some delighted parents who came along to witness the event.

The overall vibe from the children was one of excitement to see some of their favourite players in the flesh at their school. Some of them already have aspirations of becoming AFL players in the future.
